Four years after launching her own contemporary women’s line,
Ardistia New York, in the Big Apple, designer Ardistia Dwiasri is now
set to dress up Indonesia’s stylish urbanite.
She showcases the
line’s true identity, which is simple, elegant, modern, timeless,
versatile and easy to wear, in Ardistia New York’s signature collection
2011-2012.
The signature collection was recently presented in
Style Soiree, a fashion event hosted by InStyle Indonesia magazine
dedicated to showcase the creative works of Indonesia’s fashion talents.
The Relaxed Elegance collection displays
the line’s bestseller pieces from its recent collections as well as some
new designs, which are exclusively launched here in Indonesia.
“I
want the public to view my design as symbol of elegance, modern and
easy-to-wear. And of course, versatility, meaning one outfit to fit any
occasion for anyone who adores fashion,” explains the alumnus of Parsons
School of Design, New York, about her real-life approach to dressing.
Comprising
beautiful staple basics with surprising details, from ruffle sleeves to
origami detail, the collection conveys sweet and feminine blouses,
skirts, dresses, short jumpsuits and pants in lush jersey and silk
fabrics that are cleverly teamed up with clean-cut, structured jackets
and trench coats.
It simply creates up-to-the-minute multi-look pieces with understated charm that can be worn at any time of the day.
“I
always interpret my designs as modern, timeless and mixtures of
architectural concepts inspired by European art and cultures,” Ardistia
says.
For
this collection, Ardistia has fused the Grecian-inspired draping
technique in several knee-length dresses; some are combined with flirty
front and back geometric cut-outs.
“I have taken historic
elements and incorporated into something modern and timeless. And
draping is one of the techniques that combines structure and softness
that is figure-flattering,” she says.
Some blouses are also adorned with softer draping as well as sexy wrapping in loose cutting.
Continuously
fascinated with the jackets and coats, Ardistia also showcased her
exquisite trademark designs, such as the black Quitelle jacket with
pleated detail and kebaya-reminisce cuttings as well as the ultra-chic
Amabelle coat taken from the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.
These fashion-forward pieces make the perfect statement for office meetings and social gatherings.
“I
personally love jackets and coats and got inspired a lot by menswear,
historic uniforms, and the power of what great outerwear can do,” says
Ardistia, who never creates a collection without a gorgeous jacket or
two.
Flaunting a blend of bright summery tones, such as orange,
citrus, and exotic green with neutral colors, including vanilla and
black, the collection is refreshing to the eyes yet tastefully executed –
from the attractive black and white cropped jacket to the fluid green
and black maxi dress.
“I really love nature. And the bright
orange, citrus, and green remind me of relaxation and freedom.
Personally, I think these colors can represent those feelings. At the
same time, the color combination is just perfect to interpret my design
concept: Timeless and easy to dress.”
As for the top notch
quality, there is no doubt about it. The soft, comfortable jersey and
luxurious silk used for this collection have been carefully selected by
Ardistia to keep the international standard. The line only uses the
finest fabrics imported from Italy, Japan, Korea and other European
countries.
Although primarily catered to women aged from 25 to 55
years old, the Ardistia New York has transcended its sophisticated
appeal to teenagers, college girls and even women over 60, who wear the
clothing with confidence.
“It basically reflects my concept: Simple and easy to wear collections which suit everyone!”
The
contemporary spirit of her designs has been noticed since her first
collection in Spring/Summer 2007, which later secured her a Fashion
Award from Biore/Gen Art in October 2007 and a profile piece in WWD
April 2007 issue as “New Designer to Watch”.
Ardistia’s
impressive fashion experiences include an internship stint with Diane
Von Furstenberg, a technical designer with Tommy Hilfiger and a
freelancer for the GAP and Ann Taylor.
And recently, Ardistia has
added her resume when the Women’s Mafia announced her as the winner of
the “Are You Runway Ready?” fashion contest in February 2010.
Now,
ready to expand her award-winning line in her home country, Ardistia is
planning to enter the e-commerce market to cater to the local
fashionistas while expanding the brand’s exposure to the wider Asia
Pacific region.
“In the past few years, I was busy setting up a
strong base and securing a good foundation in New York, since the brand
is a New York-based line,” explains Ardistia on why it took her four
years to introduce her fashion line to the public here.
With the
new collection, she has shown her determination to serve the strong and
growing number of clienteles in Jakarta. Welcome home.
